Lettuce Smoothie

This recipe comes from a fellow member Davina Sandground who is a nutrition and health counselor.
 
She says:   Any kind of lettuce can be used (not just Romaine) and you don't have to add the parsley, cilantro and celery but you do need the apple and banana to sweeten it.
 
Liver cleansing Detox Smoothie

Cilantro helps pull heavy metals out of the liver but if you don’t care for the taste double up on the parsley. This is the ultimate smoothie with which to begin a detox program and should be incorporated into the diet once or twice a week forever!

  • 1 ½ cups cold filtered water
  • 1 head romaine (coarsely chopped). Can substitute any other leafy green that you prefer.
  • 3 large celery stalks
  • 2 apples, cored and chopped
  • 1 banana
  • 1/3 cup parsley
  • 1/3 cup cilantro
  • Juice of half a fresh lemon.

1.     Combine water and romaine in blender until smooth.

2.     Add celery, apples and herbs while gradually moving to higher speed

3.     Add banana and lemon last.
